Go red for women, a fundraiser to do more research on heart events and women’s health. We’re different, folks. We have a lot more symptoms to look for.

I’m teaching a class on heart health prevention, preparation, recovery, and symptoms for women on April 8 at my office. I’ll be teaching the classes in the morning and afternoon, and looking at 1-2 guests. Drawings will be involved, donations can go straight to the heart association through our link so you can have a tax write off for larger donations.

Come learn, support, get entered into drawings, and connect either other women.

Brian and I went to see Spanish Fork’s “the Phantom Breaks the Opera”, and we couldn’t stop laughing! Every thing that irritated me about the book and the music was called out! So funny.

For your mental health, this is a definite see. So funny!

Some of you know I'm a licensed massage therapist that does fascial work, traditional Japanese medicine, nutrition, gut healing, birth edu, Reflexology, and some other massage modalities.

What you may not know is that I have done training in trauma recovery, and that I am an advanced energy worker. Over the years I've given my clients my freemium of a cast out protocol...

I updated it.

It really needed it. It was way too wordy, and I was way to scared when I first wrote it to be truly clear. It's clear now, and the explanation file helps you understand why I'd use those words. Words matter.

I'm also kinder than I was when I wrote the original. I definitely read it today and saw that I wanted some vengeance...but that belongs to the Lord.

So, if you're wanting the update, let me know and I'll send it to you.

Huh. As a therapist I feel it most ethical to continue to work on healing me. I’m doing Allie Duzett’s 30 days taking out the trash challenge…and I’m behind. So I started catching up with her posts and occasionally our 3 yo wanted access to my right hand. It was fascinating to see what I felt as I used my left hand to scribble. (Scribbling is not the only instruction).

I was surprised to see things that came about. The image of a woman was me being curious about an art style I had seen with ironing tool (very thin netting fabric that I probably spelled wrong) into faces. I figured that could be done with scribbling too. It made me think about all the times I couldn’t look forward, too afraid to see what was in front of me.

I definitely have more work to do, and I hope you do your healing too.

Guess who won first place for the third year in a row? So exciting! This year he had four really intense contenders out of 12 entries, so we weren't sure if he'd make it. He pulled through, so now you can enjoy Grimm adventures ;)

It's been a wild week.

The most interesting portion I can think of was when someone accusingly asked me how I could help someone I don't agree with the lifestyle of.

Seriously, guys. Do you know ANYONE who completely agrees with you? Even my husband doesn't agree with everything I believe and do. I recall hearing that if we both agreed on everything one of us would not be necessary. Just sayin'

So, Yeah. I constantly am serving and helping people I disagree with on some level. They also receive benefits from the work I do, and they take everything I say and do with a grain of salt because they too have a mind and heart of their own.

That's therapy in a nutshell. Two imperfect people, working together, to help improve life. I find that I am edified by serving people, so I can't say we are exclusively lifting the life of the client only. It is definitely mutually beneficial; but there is a reason people pay for my time and do their homework afterward. I've been incredibly blessed with an extensive education and I love to share the very eclectic and useful tools to help others get well.

So, yeah. Once I got past the sting of the particular person being mean to me I found it amusing. Yes, I do therapy. Yes, I'm at the crossroads often, and I love to watch people feel better, move better, and find their voice.

Have you ever thought you were absolutely right, only to find out in a rather embarrassing way you were actually wrong?

Confirmation bias is a nasty thing, for we so firmly believe something that we don't actually know that there is even a reason to look for evidence that we could be wrong. If Heavenly Father had not told me, outright, that I believed things that were wrong I probably would not have become as curious as I did. I started questioning everything, looking for evidences and proofs.

Ironically, I did not do this everywhere. I absolutely vehemently defended some things; because I did not actually believe I could be wrong about those. It was a group of friends who confronted me (and temporarily removed me from a crunchy mamas group), because they said I was bullying. I was. :( I am so grateful for how kind they were to talk to me and explain why it was a problem and that they were sad to have to give me that boundary.

Looking back I had the proofs. I was so blind to them. Eight years previous to this experience I had my first personal proof, and I didn't even see it.

I'd get censored by the powers that be if I shared the actual story that was the most telling. However, I'll give you an insight. Our daughter had signs and symptoms of encephalitis shortly after she was born, and I was told that was "normal." Now, my mother is an EMT and I studied alongside her when I was 11 (brain pruning is 11-13, whatever you do then you're hardwired for life to do), and I knew that encephalitis is typically a medical emergency that people call an ambulance for. Yet, there I was in a hospital and they said it was normal.

So, like the little obedient mother that I was (past tense), I believed them and went home with a hysterical newborn. She screamed for three days. I now know this is one of the most severe signs of a v injury; but I blindly had trusted the medical staff. We fed her, coddled her, and my sweet husband administered priesthood blessings for her safety and comfort. Between the breastmilk and the blessings I believed that we were able to circumvent sids, but It has affected her entire life.

I could go on, for I blindly believed something for the next decade. It was only after three years of really intensive research that I discovered I *might* be wrong. It was actually in trying to prove myself right that I discovered that I was wrong in the first place. Funny how that goes.

The nice thing about getting through that kind of fire is that I have gained a lot of humility and curiosity. I've also gained answers and a healthy dose of irony when people mock me ;)

I wish I could say that it is easy to research what I did; but many of those sources have been scrubbed from the internet. I did save a lot of them so that they wouldn't permanently be lost. I'm so grateful for encrypted search engines, the internet, the ability to research things that I would not have had access to even 30 years ago. It is astonishing how blessed we are to be able to study in our homes while also in the library's of the world.

I've often wondered why we don't talk more about Heavenly Mother on mother's day. It must require a lot of humility, grace, graciousness, kindness, gentleness, comfort, and beauty to be Heavenly Mother. Something that we women are all striving for. We all fall short of that, of course, which can create self castigation. However, the longer I am a bodyworker (who does a lot of trauma recovery), the more I am convinced that self recrimination is of the devil. God enlighteneth and enticeth to do good, and when we feel good we do better things with our time. I believe we need to be more forgiving of ourselves, more patience with ourselves and other, and have better boundaries. We can only give from a full cup, and society has taught us to be martyrs instead of examples. A good example is to take care of ourselves, to also take time for the Lord, and to have the ability to say no which opens us to say yes to important things. We often put focus on whether we have are married, if we have children, if we are able to have children, if our children are angels, and what people think about us.

What if. What if we simply put our trust in the Lord, put our burdens upon His shoulders, and respect His timing. I'm all about asking Heavenly Mother and Father what I can do to change my situation, improve my life and the lives of others, and asking if I'm allowed to know why. But I also ask what the right questions are to ask. What if we did that. Truly respected that the Lord is in our timing and wanting us to have the life that grows us into the very best person we can be.

I feel incredibly blessed to have had the trials I have. I can honestly say they are blessed trials. They have taught me things, and I have become stronger. I'm literally watching my body get younger and I'm floored at the goodness of God.

I am blessed to currently have children. Both on earth (five humans), and in heaven (miscarriages). I cannot comprehend the many years ache of wishing the Lord created a body that could conceive, though I've been grateful to help some women get their bodies to reset so they could have biological children. I've watched women with snowflake babies, adoption, and who find their adventures taking care of nieces and nephews.

Motherhood is open. It is open to nurturing others, and that includes the fact that some are unmarried, some are married and have no children, and some are attracted to their same s*x and have adopted, and some have the same s*x attraction and have no children.

God made a variety of women with a variety of trials. I still sometimes have to remember to stop my judgmental thoughts (mostly toward myself), and I get to often forgive myself.

What I know is this, YOU are valuable as you. Uniquely you. Own it. Live it. Love it. Receive the LOVE that our God in Heaven has for you, both Heavenly Mother and Father. Jesus is our advocate to receive that grace and mercy, The One who atoned so we can feel peace and have such a close relationship with our Creator God. (I look at the word God as meaning: Heavenly Parents).

So, this mother's day you can remember that you are enough, through Christ of course. Still, you are. That is all you really need to know to feel at peace with the journey to the best you being you. heart

My two cents.

This is a comment that I made in a homeschool group that is gathering chapter based books for christian youth aged middle to older teens. I'm totally following that post.

We love the Chronicles of Narnia. I actually think that there is some of that in The Secret Garden (the books, not the movies), An Old Fashioned Girl has some good information on this even though it isn't overtly talking religion. "The Princess and the Goblin" and "Curdie and the Princess" are both fantastic even though they're not overtly Christian-they really are. CS Lewis and Tolkien both liked his books so much they decided to write children's books like them.

I like the principles taught in Where The Red Fern Grows, as well as Charlotte's Web.

I love Black Beauty, Eight Cousins, Heidi (if you haven't had them read this one, do. It's amazing.) Oh, and I really love Carry on Mr. Bowditch. Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh.

I know this is controversial, but I believe that the Harry Potter series definitely teaches to stop judging a book by its cover, it is the atonement story. My favorite books are in this order: Scriptures, Les Miserables, and Harry Potter. They all teach that love really is more powerful than hate, greed, vengeance, and guilt. So love them. Unfortunately Victor Hugo is the king of the run on sentence...be aware. My grammar has suffered from reading that at the 7th grade age 😃

Our entire family likes the historical Christian romance novels by Sarah M. Eden. We haven't read one we didn't like. She is fantastic. Another good author is Kristi Ann Hunter. Toni Shiloh and Roseanna M White have great books, some are too mature and have heavy topics like assault or premarital intimacy so screen it.

As a teen I loved Les Miserables, Tale of Two Cities,

A friend of mine suggested Janette Oke? don't know if I spelled that right. The Wind Calls The Heart books. She says they're romance books, though.

K, so i’m super blessed to have found these authors. Seriously fantastic for different reasons. I totally joined Toni Shiloh’s launch team and got to read A Run at LOVE early. Guess what, if you catch the preorder you’ll also get an epilogue of them going on their honeymoon to Oloro Île (Oy, Hope I spelled that right). I may or may not have wanted that epilogue story, so I also bought a run at love. I’ll just have to find a friend to gift one to. Such a good series, can’t wait for book three.

They did provide me with a copy of A Run at LOVE, Both digital and physical, as part of the launch team. But, let’s be real, I totally bought a copy too because I really love Toni’s work. She delves into a topic that I wish were more openly spoken about- what it is like for children adopted into families of a different cultural and color background. It’s complicated. As I work on clients I find we all have individual stories and they are shifting and changing as we heal, so the idea that everyone has to agree on the same response is narrow minded…and this book delves into that. I LOVE it! I bough the first book and I’m looking forward to the third. So far any thing I’ve read from Toni is deep and cozy with a little bit of very human risk.

Hm. So, fingernails. I guess I just forget that I'm kind of alone in my obsession about signs and symptoms for holistic health. Your fingernails say a lot about what has happened to you and what is happening to you.

Recently I worked a client to change their supplements. Don't get me wrong, they were using something good. I just wanted them to truly recover so I switched them to something better and more cost friendly.

Here's the thing, though, when you want to heal with nutrition, sleep, sun, supplements, exercise you are also going to have to be patient.

So, we discussed nails.

Each toe and finger are connected to a meridian, except the middle toe. What's with that?!

Anyway, if the nail is separating there's a very real possibility we're trying to separate our emotions from that particular part of our life. Take spleen and liver, for example. Spleen is in the earth archetype about nurturing, and liver is in the wood archetype where we process getting things done and anger. So, separating from that is typically separating from conflict and connection. They are hand in hand, so you need them both.

There's also the different colors, thicknesses, brittleness, splitting, coming up, etc., and so you can quickly see if you are getting well. Well, in the holistic world a month would be considered quick.

It's nice to be able to tell someone that they're getting well, that I can see it, that the improvements they made are working. Without invasive tests. With complete confidence; because the body is ridiculously honest.

Honesty is my love language. No wonder I love being a holistic practitioner. :D

So profound, so simple, and so true.

This is a large portion of my reasoning behind my living to do bodywork, nutrition, and traditional japanese medicine. Best way for me to pull out of doldrums is to serve someone else. I have also learned more about joy and humility, repentance and self forgiveness from that sharing of joy.

Nothing quite brings Easter, and the reason we rejoice in Christ’s atonement and resurrection, like a dear family member’s funeral. We rejoice in Christ, we connect with our family, and we weep for the loss of more time together.

I’ve cried a lot today; but we’ve been so grateful to reconnect with cousins and aunts and uncles, some that we haven’t seen in a good five years.

02/26/2024

I wrote this in response to a very moving post about the chosen episode of a woman with an issue of blood for 12 years. The woman was told that it was not her touching the Savior that healed her, it was her faith. Yet, it was her work that gave her enough faith. About 15 years ago I studied all the different ways the Savior Himself healed people and he always did it in ways that could strengthen their faith. Telling the centurion his servant was healed from afar, putting spit-mud on a man's eyes, bathing in a dirty river seven time, etc., were all personal to that person's ability to comprehend.

Here was my response to a question she posed, and I wanted to share it with you:

It is rather amazing to me that people heal through Christ, any healing, no matter their religion. I watch it under my hands and I'm in awe.
I think we have a tendency to think that because it was so and so, that's why we healed. However, I have had hundreds of clients under my hands and some have healed not a whit and I had to refer them elsewhere. Others have wept with joy at things they let go in my office.
It took several years for me to pull my ego out of it. I sometimes still lapse, but then I'm reminded that my job is to bring awareness. Dr. Ida P Rolf always said "awareness is the healer", and while that is true it is also incomplete. It requires humility and faith to complete the process. I finally came to the conclusion that the reason some people were NOT healing in my office was because they would not invite the Creator of the Universe into their healing. I've stopped caring what they call Him, whether it be Tao, Allah, Jehovah, Mother Earth, Universe; because if they are healing it is as Jesus said in the bible "they are with us."
So, now I screen clients for four things, proactive, accountable, humble, and Creator respecting/God fearing. If they meet those qualifications they CAN heal.
People still vary in how much faith and humility they have, and how much their body is capable of releasing. They also vary in how much trauma they have to get rid of (fascia is the largest organ to transport emotion). But now that I am circumspect I consistently witness healing.
I think that must have been a beautiful moment for Jesus. To be surrounded by people who wanted healing, but was touched by someone who was willing to humble herself, be vulnerable, do the work, and take the risk. She did it. She went to God in humility, believing enough to break the commandments to not touch anyone in order just to get close to the Savior.
I have learned more about repentance and humility from my clients in the past 13 years than I had in all my personal study. It is incredible the vulnerability and strength they have displayed. I pray for them, and they lift my spirits with their incredible faith.

Remember how I’ve read over 1,000 books with this whole bedrest thing? Well, I love using historical fiction to teach homeschool. My children remember dates more than if we did rote memorization. Also, I love how they discuss topics that are often forgotten.

These are books I’ve read and they were good enough that I want to share them with my kidlets. Yay for book mail!

A friend of mine posted this last year, and today I noticed the words:
Alignment
Change
Self Care
&
Miracles

And while I don’t take a ton of stock in something else determining my future, I do recognize that of the 40 million bits of information hitting our conscious we filter out everything but 2,000. Those are the ones we value and see, so seeing things like this points out what we truly are preparing to do and be.

The Lord is in your details and I pray you invite Him into your 2024.
