Have you ever felt rushed in a doctor’s appointment? Have you ever been told that you need to choose only one thing to discuss with the provider? Have you ever left an appointment feeling unsure of what the provider told you or what the plan going forward even was? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are not alone. A majority of Americans report having similar experiences every time they see a provider.
Who is at fault for this poor level of care? The fee-for-service, or traditional health insurance, model. In this model it is all about quantity. In order for providers to be profitable they have to see more and more patients each day. This can negatively impact both the patients and the providers. It’s time to break free from this model. In direct primary care, or subscription based healthcare, the focus shifts from quantity to quality. My standard appointments are 45-60 minutes in length. Feel free to talk to me about all your concerns and get all your questions answered. Have a question after you leave or the next day? You can call, text, or email me directly without having to navigate any barriers or speak with anyone first. This is just one of the many reasons why I love direct primary care.
It’s time we all demand quality over quantity and get the attention and healthcare we all deserve.
