Babies don’t replace babies.

October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, and I think it’s important to say this out loud,

A new baby doesn’t erase the one you lost.
A rainbow doesn’t erase the storm that came before it.
A new heartbeat doesn’t silence the ache of the one that stopped.

Every child is their own person.
Every bond is unique.
Every love is sacred and irreplaceable.

Grief and joy can exist side by side.
You can miss one baby with every ounce of your soul, while still loving another with your whole heart.
It’s not replacement.
It’s not forgetting.
It’s carrying both love and loss at the same time.

So if you’ve lost a baby, your love for them is forever valid.
And if you’ve gone on to have more children, that love doesn’t replace, it simply multiplies.

Because babies don’t replace babies.
And this month, we remember them all.

Doula

As a Doula I support ALL births. This includes inductions, c-sections, VBAC’s, medicated and un-medicated births. As your Doula I will work wherever you plan to deliver, be it in a hospital, at home or in a birth center, I will be there. As your Doula I am here to facilitate education, and to lend you mental, emotional, physical and spiritual support.

There a a few things, as a Doula, that I do not do. I do not deliver babies. I will however work with your care provider to support you during your pregnancy and birth. Unfortunately I do not accept insurance but some HSA/Flex Spending plans will allow you to be reimbursed for doula sevices. Please check with your HSA or flex spending plan to see if this is a possibility for you. And lastly I will not speak for you. As your Doula I will facilitate an environment of open communication, education and respect so that you may fully participate in your own maternity and postpartum care.
