Important information about depo.
It’s so important to know the risks of birth control before getting on it. Especially long term. Unfortunately our society tends to shut down that conversation. I personally finally left a Facebook group that had to do with some struggles a member of my family has because I tried to share an article written by a DOCTOR on the concerns of birth control after so many jumped on the “birth control fixes all female problems” wagon. My comment was deleted and I was told they weren’t “comfortable” with it because so many there had their daughters on birth control in the group!

Most women I talk to in my practice aren’t interested in hormonal birth control. Most are also not aware of options for diaphragms. This is a one size fits all, and is very cost effective.

I have had so many people reach out to me wanting to pursue a career in Midwifery, and while I can only take on so many students I did want to provide something for those of you interested in learning what being a midwife and midwifery student is all about! Took us a little while but we are finally scheduled and ready to go!

I posted the tearful video of Madison (as I joke) “retiring” from midwife-ing since she has started her college career (at 16!). But she ended up never stopping 😂. Babies sweetly cooperated and have come on weekends and days/nights she doesn’t have classes.
Midwifery and taking care of all these amazing families is a bit addicting! This week she attended her 100th birth, one for a very precious client who she’s attended with me through all 3 of her children!
Love having her by my side through all these sweet ones making their entrance. She’s unstoppable!

Made it through yet another amazing fall 🍂 season, the busiest baby time of the year!

Though first in line we welcomed the final baby of September in the night. This precious family came to me with their first baby and now I have been with them through all 3 precious kiddos.
This is the longest she’s ever gone and when you’ve already had an over 11 lbs baby the anxiety starts kicking in! She trooped through days of prodromal labor but handled it all with such grace. She’s a warrior and has a precious family.
There is such peace in her home every single time I’m there you can simple feel it in your soul.
Welcome sweet one, congrats to you all. Thank you for letting me come along on your beautiful journey.

📣 You Don’t Need Permission to Make Decisions About Your Birth 📣

Somewhere along the way, the culture around birth shifted — and many people began to feel like they needed to ask their provider for permission.

Let’s be clear:
You are not a child, and your provider is not your parent.

✖️ Saying things like “they won’t let me” or “I need to ask if I’m allowed to…” reflects a dynamic that doesn’t belong in birth.
✖️ This mindset can lead to a loss of autonomy and disempowerment during one of the most important moments of your life.

✅ You are a capable adult.
✅ You have the legal and ethical right to make informed decisions about your care.
✅ Your provider is there to offer guidance, information, and support — not to make decisions for you.

Whether it’s choosing how to move, what position to labor in, or what interventions you do or don’t want — you get to decide.

Your body. Your birth. Your rights.

Providers should be asking you for consent — not the other way around.

Let’s shift the language and reclaim our power in birth spaces.

In a week we welcomed 3 sweet little ones. Trinidad, Pueblo, and Pueblo west.
Previously posted about our sweet little Labor Day boy.

Then we had little miss N, who was in quite the hurry and had me speeding over to her with very little warning! Mama did amazing and dad took great care of them! Such a treasure to walk through each one but extra special when one is prayed and longed for, for such a long time!!

Mr S joined us yesterday after several trips back and forth to Pueblo west. First home birth for this family (and all the rest this past week!). We got to enjoy some laughs and lots of family as mama worked so beautifully to bring her little peanut into the world in the birth pool.

One more September mama in the works, and she was the first due lol!! This is why due dates just don’t matter 😂.

It wouldn’t be Labor Day without a new sweet baby joining us! Those out of town births have us grabbing a hotel more often lately! My team headed down on the early side planning to get a hotel, I even got to ride in the back seat while my amazing student drove us. While on the way we got a call to go ahead straight to our client instead of the hotel for the night. She was stunned to find out she had already completed most of her labor when we got there! A sweet boy joined us a little while later weighing 8 lbs 14 oz! Mom and Dad were amazing and sweet big sister stayed asleep the whole time in the next room while he was born!
Checked into our hotel at about 5 am lol but enjoyed a few hours of sleep before the long drive home!
A yummy nutritious meal is in the oven for a late dinner. So thankful for Clean Eatz

My girl started attending births with me during Covid in 2021. She fell in love though not with the getting up in the middle of the night 😂. She has attended for 4 years now, 97 births. She has attended multiples for some clients even! I regularly get huge compliments from clients and they always ask if she’s going to be a midwife. Well that is not her plan, she starts college two years early this month and will begin her own life journey to become a teacher. Something that she has planned since she was about 5 years old! We cried together on our way home from a birth this month and … I’m starting to cry now. Those middle of the night drives are about to get real lonely! I’m so excited for her to launch into her own journey because I know she is going to be amazing at this. But boy am I going to miss my girl by my side 😭
