A lot of people contact me after switching to a more meat-based diet and are worried that their cholesterol went up. Yes. If eating more animal products it could have. That's not uncommon.
But just because it went up, is not a bad thing. The overall number is only a small piece of the puzzle. The ratios are much more important
I've had patients with a total cholesterol of 150 that worry me much more due to really bad ratios versus other patients with a total cholesterol of 300 which have great ratios and don't stress me out at all.
