It’s not always acne ✍🏼

Perioral Dermatitis (POD) is something I see more often than people realize.

It usually shows up as small red bumps, dryness, and irritation around the mouth and one of the biggest triggers I see is overusing occlusive products like heavy balms or ointments (Aquaphor, Vaseline, etc)

If you’re constantly reapplying things like petroleum based lip products, it can trap moisture and disrupt the skin barrier around the mouth.

Signs it might be POD:

• tiny red bumps around the mouth
• dryness or flaking
• burning or tight feeling
• irritation that won’t clear with normal skincare

The good news: with the right routine and removing triggers, it usually improves.

If this looks familiar, stop the heavy products and focus on barrier repair and gentle skincare.

One of my most favorite mask ever is the Soothing Clay Mask.

What it does:
• Detoxifies pores with kaolin + bentonite clay
• Helps reduce oil and congestion
• Calms inflamed acne and irritated skin
• Supports the skin during acne-clearing treatments
• Leaves skin smooth, balanced, and clarified

It’s one of my favorite masks for acne-prone skin because it pulls oil and congestion out of the pores but still calms inflammation. So you get the detox benefits of clay without that tight, over-dried feeling.
