We are ready for our K-5 Summer Camp! We are taking a "road trip" and visiting many states. We kick off in WASHINGTON 🍎🌲🏔🐟

Our Program Supervisor, Preschool teacher (and her baby) put the final touches on the classroom. It looks great!

Our summer focus is on:

✔️ Staying active
✔️ Play
✔️Visits with our Bishop Place friends
✔️Daily local park excursions
✔️Neill Public Library Reading Program
✔️State geography, history, culinary arts and recreation lessons

Starting wage is between $17.00-$22.50/hour (DOE/E and current Washington State DCYF childcare credentials).

Schedule is: Monday-Friday, 7:15am-3:15pm (hours may be negotiable).

Building Blocks CCC cherishes its partnership with Bishop Place Senior Living. Our children have activity time with their residents twice a month. In addition, BP plans fun events for most major holidays ❤️

The process of building foundational literacy skills begins before kindergarten. There is rapid brain development from ages 0-5! A Kindergartner’s success is based on all their experiences leading to kindergarten.

How do we build foundational literacy skills in preschool? Cognitive neuroscientist, Stanislas Dehaene’s research supports integrating authentic language and literacy skills in children’s everyday experiences before kindergarten. At BBCCC, we use research like this to integrate into our early literacy practices. How do we do that?

The THREE most important skills are:
1. Print awareness
2. Phonological awareness
3. Phonics

BBCCC parents, we will focus more on this in our March Newsletter! In the meantime, check out the fun we have been having this week for READ ACROSS AMERICA.
