We’re proud to share some exciting news from right here in Whitman County. Each year, the CDC and the Association of Immunization Managers recognize one individual in every immunization jurisdiction with the Immunization Champion Award, a national honor celebrating those who go above and beyond to promote vaccination in their communities.

This year, the award for the whole state of Washington goes to Wil Edwards, owner of Sid’s Pharmacy in Pullman. His dedication to improving access to vaccines and supporting families has made a lasting impact, especially as our community works to raise childhood immunization rates in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today is the Manager of Sid’s Pharmacy, Darcy’s Birthday 08/14! She has been with Sid’s Pharmacy for over 30 years!!! (We aren’t sure how she was able to start working at 5 years old but labor laws were different then)🧐😆! Darcy Linderman

🥤🍦 Happy National Root Beer Float Day! 🎉
Did you know the root beer float was invented in 1893 by Frank J. Wisner in Cripple Creek, Colorado? One summer night, inspired by the sight of snow-capped mountains in the moonlight, he dropped vanilla ice cream into root beer and called it the “Black Cow.” 🐄

It quickly became a soda fountain classic, and over the years we’ve seen delicious variations like the Brown Cow (with chocolate ice cream) and even the Purple Cow (grape soda + vanilla ice cream).

So today, raise a frosty glass in honor of this foamy, creamy American favorite. 🥂
