As a midwife, I am forever expounding upon the sacred nature of childbearing. However, this does not mean that I personally find the experience of pregnancy to be particularly glamorous or enjoyable.

This series of photos is an honestly accurate representation of my general feeling about pregnancy - an unavoidable yet necessary period of perpetual and novel discomfort, for the worthiest of ends. I just choose to tell myself that this makes me a more empathetic and compassionate midwife.

Despite my facial expressions in this post, I am truly overjoyed to announce the impending arrival of my second son / third baby in mid May. You will of course be in excellent hands during my three months of maternity leave.

I would humbly and gratefully accept any and all good intentions and prayers for a healthy baby, peaceful birthing, restful postpartum...and fortitude for the remainder of pregnancy. ;)♡

Hi friends.

The Healing Group - our postpartum support group for birthing people - took a fall and winter hiatus to allow me to recover from surgery and Sarah to make the transition to her new shop.

2026 is here and we are ready to welcome you back to group with open arms and loving, non judgmnetal support. Group resumes this Saturday at 9:00am at Moscow Full of Life Holistics and we look forward to seeing you there.

Group is open to birthing parents up to two years postpartum. Sharing is always optional. Feeling sad, overwhelmed, anxious in baby season? We've got you. Difficult birth experience? We've got you. Difficulty communicating with partner? We've got you.

There are many unwanted illnesses out there right now. Pertussis (whooping cough) is still circulating in the greater Palouse region. If you have sick little ones, please keep them home when you come in for a visit. If you are sick, please reach out and we will happily reschedule you. Let's do our best keep the moms, babies, and midwives well!

Celebrating Year 10!

In December 2017 our baby business took a faith and financial leap and purchased the birth center in Pullman! We spent many, many hours pouring our hard work, vision and love into the little white house on Grand. Our intention was to create a grounded space of beauty and peace for families to welcome new babies into the world.

The first baby was born at the Pullman birth center on May 9, 2018. Since then we have welcomed a total of 246 babies born at the Pullman Nest!

Last December we became accredited with the American Association of Birth Centers. This is the Gold Stamp for birth centers. We are the 2nd birth center in Idaho to be accredited and the 18th in Washington!

Holiday party at The Pie Safe! This group of women works so hard throughout the year to support families on The Palouse! It was lovely to take a night out to connect and be served the most amazing food!

Presenting 3 of the 5 Nest babies born this past Thanksgiving week!! Two hospital, two birth center and one home birth. 🥰

Much love and appreciation to our Nest families who put their trust in us to safely navigate their labor and births even when plans need to change.

We give thanks for the honor and privelege of assisting these little ones to the world!

Celebrating Year 10!

During the summer of 2016 KO moved to the Palouse area! We met for coffee- she was clearly very wise and intelligent. She had finished her bachelors at Stanford, her Naturopathic degree and midwifery training at Bastyr. We decided she would assist me at births for awhile and see if we were a good fit for a potential partnership. Her first birth with me was in the middle of nowhere, there were guns all over the walls and the husband was in the midst of a mental crisis. The mom was very lovely and had a beautiful birth. She later told me that she thought- “so this is rural midwifery”. In the months that followed we developed a beautiful labor dance together- we both felt so grateful for the gift this was. In the Spring we launched our integrated practice!
