CBHC had a blast at the Boys & Girls Club Fall-O-Ween event this past Saturday at the Family Services Center! Kids stopped by our table for sweets, treats, and some creative fun decorating Halloween scratch-art ornaments, while parents picked up info on the services and support CBHC provides.

Big thanks to the Boys & Girls Club for hosting such a fun and festive community event! 👻🧡

We’re proud to have joined our fellow behavioral health leaders and partners for Behavioral Health Day in Tallahassee! This important event brought together providers, state leaders, and law enforcement professionals to highlight a shared commitment that collaboration saves lives.

At CBHC, we believe that when agencies and communities work together, we can create real change for those in need of hope, help, and healing.

FBHA thanks all of our members, partners, and state agency leaders for joining us for Behavioral Health Day! During BH Day, leaders from Florida's behavioral health community joined with law enforcement professionals to reaffirm a critical message that collaboration saves lives.

On Tuesday, our CEO met with local legislators to discuss the ongoing behavioral health needs in Charlotte and DeSoto Counties.

Marchman Unit Expansion Update!

On June 30, we officially broke ground on our Marchman Unit expansion. While there were a few final details to work out, permitting is now complete, and we’ve received the green light to move forward with construction.

This project is part of our ongoing commitment to being the Answer to Addiction and expanding access to life-saving recovery services in our community.

Shalisa began her career at CBHC as a Peer Support Specialist for the Family Intensive Treatment Team (F**T) in Lee County. Through her dedication and commitment, she has earned additional certifications as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist and Certified Recovery Support Specialist, as well as her Bachelor’s in Human Services. Her growth and leadership led to her promotion to F**T Case Manager in Lee County, where she continues to make a meaningful impact.

Shalisa has played a vital role in training new Peer Recovery Support Specialists, guiding them through the certification process, and connecting with community partners to support clients in their recovery journeys. Her efforts have helped countless individuals access recovery meetings, sober supports, housing, and food assistance. Currently, she is pursuing her Master’s in Addiction Counseling, with graduation anticipated in May 2026.

Beyond her professional contributions, Shalisa is the proud wife of a U.S. Marine Veteran and the devoted mother of three young sons. She also serves as the Youth Leader at her church, balancing her roles at CBHC, home, and in the community with grace and passion.

Shalisa is a shining reflection of the work CBHC does every day—uplifting, supporting, and guiding individuals and families toward recovery and wellness. We are grateful to have her on our team!

Four years ago today, a new chapter began! 🎉

On Oct. 1, 2021, CBHC was honored to receive the deed to Selby House in Arcadia from the incredible stakeholders of Mental Health Community Centers (MHCC).

Because of their generosity and vision, Selby House has remained a trusted and welcoming place where CBHC continues to provide vital behavioral health services to individuals and families throughout DeSoto County.

Today, we celebrate not only the gift of this space, but the lasting legacy of MHCC and the lives that continue to be touched every single day within its walls.

Here’s to many more years of hope, healing, and community impact!
