Starting on Friday, September 5th, we will be replacing our 1pm Low Impact Class with Chair Yoga!
Chair Yoga – Move with Strength, Breathe with Ease
(Kicking off September Fall Prevention Month)
Chair Yoga at Full Distance is more than just stretching—it’s a whole-body and whole-mind practice designed to keep you moving safely, confidently, and with ease. Led by Alina (Doctor of Physical Therapy and yoga instructor) or Hannah (Personal Trainer and Assisted Stretch Specialist), this class blends therapeutic movement with the restorative benefits of yoga.
How Chair Yoga Helps Prevent Falls:
Brain Fitness: Coordinating movement with breath and posture sharpens focus, reaction time, and body awareness—skills that directly reduce fall risk.
Breathing & Relaxation: Focused breathwork calms the nervous system and improves oxygen flow, helping with balance, energy, and stability.
Posture & Alignment: Building awareness of posture reduces strain, improves gait, and keeps your body aligned for safer daily movement.
Strength & Mobility: Gentle exercises for the ankles, hips, spine, and core improve balance strategies and support confident walking and standing.
The first half of class is done seated in the chair; in the second half, you may stay seated or explore supported standing movements using a chair or ballet bar.
Chair Yoga is perfect for all ages and fitness levels (our participants have ranged from 16 to 83!) and is especially supportive for those looking for a safe, therapeutic way to move—including individuals living with chronic pain, neurological progressive diseases like Parkinson’s or recovering from injury.
