Put-In-Bay EMS

Put-In-Bay EMS Put-in-Bay Township Emergency Medical Services has been a leader in Advanced Life Support since 1977 We have three ambulances and one quick response unit.

Put-in-Bay Emergency Medical Services has been a leader in Advanced Life Support since 1977. Put-in-Bay Township has partnered with Mercy Health Services to provide EMS services to Put-in-Bay and eight other Erie islands. We are staffed year round and are equipped with the most modern Advanced Life Support equipment and medications. During the busy summer months, our part time staff travel from around the state to provide coverage to PIB on a daily basis, and Middle Bass Island on weekends. In the off season, services are provided by a full time paramedic and volunteer EMT staff consisting of island residents. Our team averages 450 calls per year. Calls to other islands and water rescues are handled in conjunction with the Put-in-Bay Village Harbor Patrol and Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department. Put-in-Bay EMS has an on-site, fully equipped training center and offers CPR training to the general public. We house two patient care rooms to provide ongoing care in case of inclement weather. We also provide several community services such as weekly blood pressure checks and lab draws for those needing bloodwork. Darrell Long, Manager

Yesterday was a bittersweet day as our amazing EMT Tom Coury worked his last shift with Put-in-Bay EMS. Tom has been part of our EMS family for four years, and this year we proudly named him our Employee of the Year!

Even at his young age, Tom has already done it all — he’s a pilot of both airplanes and helicopters, a stock car racer, a college graduate and even finds time to dabble in contracting. His drive, talent, and heart for helping others inspire everyone around him.

Now he’s taking on his biggest adventure yet — joining the United States Air Force to chase his dream of becoming a fighter pilot.

We’re so sad to see him go, but we couldn’t be more proud. Thank you, Tom, for your service, your friendship and all the memories. Your future is as bright and boundless as the skies you'll soon call home and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 💚✈️

🚑 Become an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) 🚑

In just 60 hours, you can learn the lifesaving skills to help your community when it matters most. This course teaches CPR, AED, airway management, bleeding control, trauma care, patient assessment, and how to assist EMS on scene.

📍 Why it matters:
When emergencies happen, EMRs are often the first trained person there. Your actions can stabilize a patient, buy time, and even save a life before the ambulance arrives. This certification makes a real impact!

🗓 Schedule:

Total: 60 hours

Two 5-hour days or nights per week (TBD – we’ll work with the group!)

Starts: Early November

Finish: Before the end of the year ✅

Be the one your community can count on. 💪

🌟 Shout-out to our amazing team! 🌟

At our recent staff picnic, we handed out awards to celebrate the hard work and unique personalities that make our crew so special. 🏆 You’ll see each recipient’s picture here, with their award description in the caption.

But most importantly — every single member of our staff is truly incredible. 💛 Award or not, they bring heart, skill, and teamwork to every shift, and we couldn’t do what we do without them. 🚑✨

The crowds might be leaving, but the Men of the Bass Islands are here all year long. 🌊
Take a piece of Put-in-Bay home with you — our 16-month calendar started in September, so there’s still plenty of time (and dad bod laughs) left!

🐐✨ They’ve got hooves. They’ve got fans. And now… they’ve got calendars.
Join us for the fluffiest calendar event of the summer:

Soup & Whiskey’s Calendar Meet & Greet!

That’s right—two of Put-in-Bay’s most beloved island celebrities, Soup and Whiskey (our official EMS mascots 🩺🐐), will be making a public appearance alongside the launch of our 2025–2026 Men of the Bass Islands Calendar—and it’s going to be absolutely baaa-nanas.

The goats are proudly owned by Put-in-Bay EMS EMT Bree Reynolds, who kindly offered to share their star power for a good cause.

📅 When: Tuesday, July 15, 6-8pm
🚑 Where: EMS station (528 Catawba Ave.)
📸 Snap a photo with Soup & Whiskey
📅 Pick up your calendar & get it signed by Bree himself (Mr. September 2025)
💸 All proceeds go towards essential EMS gear...because goats can't do CPR.

Bring the kids, hug a goat, and leave with 16 months of small-town pride and slightly-too-bold poses.

🇺🇸🎇 Still recovering from the 4th? Us too.
Luckily, we’ve got just the thing to ease your post-fireworks hangover: 16 months of dad bods, hometown heroes, and gloriously questionable poses.

The Men of the Bass Islands Calendar is officially here—and let’s be honest, it’s the only thing hotter than yesterday’s grill.

Laugh a little. Support a good cause. And hang one on the fridge to remind yourself that bravery comes in all shapes and shirt sizes.

⚠️ Warning: excessive laughter and secondhand confidence may occur.
