Our Junior Volunteers recently had the unique opportunity to explore the surgical side of healthcare during their OR Experience, just one of the many career exploration opportunities throughout the summer.

Dressed in sterile attire, the students toured one of our operating rooms, learned about the various careers involved in surgery, and gained hands-on experience using tools like the DaVinci Robot for a mock procedure. They also viewed real surgical videos and had the chance to ask questions and engage with our skilled OR team.

This hands-on day was a favorite among our students. Thank you to our incredible OR team for taking the time to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals!

Congratulations to Dr. Steven Wexler, Medical Director of the Day Kimball Hospital Emergency Department, on completing his 10th Pan-Mass Challenge this past weekend. Dr. Wexler rode as part of Team Courage Coneheads, joining thousands of cyclists in the annual effort to support cancer research and treatment through the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

Over the past decade, Dr. Wexler has raised an incredible $139,000, with 100% going to support life-saving research. This year, he exceeded his fundraising goal, raising $16,700, contributing to the Challenge’s 2025 total of more than $57.4 million to date.

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Wexler’s dedication to this important cause and his continued commitment to the well-being of our community, both inside and outside of the hospital. Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone and the continued progress toward a cure.
