According to plantar fasciitis pages with 40,000 people all you have to do to fix it is go into the woods, hold your breath, p*e on a 3 foot tall dogwood tree when there is a full moon and you will be cured.
Obviously I’m kidding.
But that is exactly how random some of the crap is that they recommend.
Sometimes it’s honestly hilarious.
Here is my attempt to explain why it’s so random what they recommend and what they THINK cured them.
First if all, lets talk about what caused plantar fasciitis.
Your feet and legs are weak in the wrong places, and in the wrong ways.
Because of that weakness when you bear weight the plantar fascia tissue takes on more force than it’s designed to take.
And it tears.
Your foot literally tears in half.
Thats why its so painful.
Now there are tens of thousands of things that go into the equation of how your foot handles force.
Don’t believe me about the tens of thousands of variables?
Let me list a few.
Every step you have ever taken.
How you took each of those steps.
How you run.
How you ran as a kid.
Every sport you ever played.
Every shoe you ever wore.
How long you wore each of those shoes as the wore out.
Every trait of each of those shoes.
Every surface you have ever walked on
The strength of every one of your muscles.
The movement quality throughout your entire life.
The mobility you have.
The mobility your used to have.
Every injury you have ever had.
You get the point.
There are actually an infinite amount of data points that have contributes to your plantar fasciitis.
You get the point.
Now the body is constantly trying to heal.
And when you have pain you are CONSTANTLY trying to adjust many things to get out of pain.
When we do this, we adjust 10 or 20 things at a time and change hundreds of those variables without knowing it.
Just choosing a different shoe might alter 300 of those variables.
And at the same time you started taking turmeric. And your pain went away.
The turmeric must have cured you.
So you go straight to facebook and claim that turmeric is the miracle cure for plantar fasciitis.
Well you don’t know that it was that, because you also stopped taking walks, and also did 7 other things differently because your were in pain.
All the while your body was desperately trying to heal itself, and somehow, it did.
The actual truth is that you have no idea what healed you.
But that doesn’t make a good facebook post.
What we want is a protocol that gives is the best chance to heal.
And that simply means learning to get stronger, develop better mobility in all of out joints, and improve movement skill.
Those things will give you the best chance to heal for good.
