This week is National School Counseling Week, and while we celebrate all school counselors, we want to give a special shout-out to our very own Mr. Bates. Did you know that Linden ISD is home to an LPC Associate supervised by myself, Toni Hagins, M.S., LPC-S? New year, new beginnings! Journey Counseling is excited to welcome Na’Triell Gantt as our student intern. Na’Triell is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling at Texas A&M University–Texarkana. After a career in nursing, she felt called to support others in a deeper, more holistic way. Her quiet confidence and inner strength are truly empowering. We are honored to have Na’Triell learning and growing with us this semester.

We are adding a new service at Journey Counseling 💙If you are soon to graduate and looking for a licensure supervisor in Texas, head on over to our website and check out the "supervision" tab. To me, choosing a supervisor is one of the most important decisions we make as Counselors. Make sure to take your time and find someone that is just the right fit for you. Here are some questions to help you start to navigate this process:

What supervisor personality will help me grow?
What is their theoretical orientation and approach to supervision?
How available do I need them to be?
Would I benefit from some virtual sessions or should they be all in-person?
If group supervision is offered, what size would I like that group to be?
