Thank you to the Schuyler PEO and AT Still University Grant and Research Dept for boh delivering homemade valentines cards to our residents.

Thank you to the Schuyler County Rotary Club for hand delivering chocolate valentines to our resdients on February 12th and providing sugar free chocolates for our diabetic residents.

Thank you to Judge Kelly Lovekemp for the chocolate covered strawberries that were served to the residents on Saturday, Valentine day!

We had our Valentine Day party on Friday, February 13. We crowned Mr. Allen and Ms. Rachel King and Queen elected by the SCNH staff. We had a guessing jar, played pass my heart with clothes pins, Valentine tic tac toe and sang Love songs. We served the homemade sugar cookies made on Wednesday and served love potion #9 cotton candy drinks! We had a "love"ly time! Thank you for helping me out Ms. Denise from the office.

We baked and decorated over 8 dozen Valentines day cookies today for the party coming up Friday. The residents got to eat at least one after they decorated it. We will be crowning a King and Queen at the Valentines party (staff are voting on the winners). We have a guessing jar for whomever comes closet to the winning number to take home games, Karaoke fun and Valentines to pass out at the party Friday!

Moots Karaoke came Friday, January 30 to entertain us. They did a great job as always.

We held our January birthday party this afternoon. We served up cupcakes, homemade frosted cookies donated from Blueberry Bakery, thank you, and blue Hawaiian punch topped with a scoop of ice cream. We sang along to karaoke tunes from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s! Ms. Lynn, Mr. Ronnie, Mr. Eugene, Ms. Donna and Ms. JoAnn J. all celebrated birthdays this month!

We had a big crowd at bingo this morning and played again at 2:30. There was a schedule change for our January birthday party which we will take place tomorrow. Thank you Ms. Teena for working with Complete Family Medicine and getting us a nice donation of snow globes and fake snow to do a winter/Valentine craft with. What should we put in them? Maybe a snowman and hearts with part of them and then Ms. Teena suggested flowers, butterflies, bunnies and/or Easter eggs for Easter/Spring?

We will have Moots Karaoke on Friday at 2:30 and the public is welcome to attend!

We held our bingo store on Friday, January 23. We had our usual items displayed of clothes, jewelry, beauty items of lotions and soaps, body sprays, seasonal decorations and prizes, various snacks and drinks. We had donations of earrings in assorted holiday designs and put out the Valentines and St. Patrick Day ones. The bingo store is a favorite of the residents. Ms. Taryn made a Betty Boop for our bulletin board and had a helper Ms. Lyrica who colored the mini Betty Boop. We have strips of cloth cut up to tie on wreath forms and are keeping in the activity room and bringing down for Sunset Club in the afternoon for the residents to work on. We are using red and valentine color strips now .

We have not held activities the last two weeks due to illness in the facility. We started up our activities today, January 19, 2026.

We cancelled our Snowball dance at the Schuyler County Nursing Home for January 16, 2026 and plan to reschedule as a prom hopefully in April. We received some beautiful ball gowns from Putnam Co. FCCLA and Ms. Taylor in Social Services, for the dance, thank you!

We have been busy organizing our supplies and getting the February calendar and events planned.

We have put together a relaxation kit of donations to utilize not only with the residents but our staff as well in the future.

We received several new pairs of house shoes from Shoe Sensation in Kirksville of which we have several to distribute as most of the residents are well. Thank you Shoe Sensations and those who made donations for the slippers.

Ms. Bette H. turned 102 today on Christmas Eve! She was serenaded this morning with coffee and cookies from the nursing staff. Her daughter, Ms. Carolyn, brought red, green and white frosted cupcakes for all residents and staff in honor of her birthday, thank you, they were enjoyed by all at lunch time!

We delivered gifts from Secret Santa to each resident. Santa, aka Ms. Taryn, was all suited up and ringing a bell and pulling his sled of gifts assisted by Ms. Rose. We helped the residents open each gift. They were all so grateful and their eyes twinkled like a little child! Thank you to all the SCNH staff who served as Secret Santa's, your generosity is beyond compare!

Thank you to Mr. Alan for donating a big box of fruit which was left in the dining hall to share with all.

We had a visit from a fur baby "Poppy" who donned a necklace of lights and followed her master, Ms Laura, around the building.

Extra gifts from the community of a full size Mary Kay lotion disguised as little snowmen were also given to each resident today, thank you! One was received for every employee and will be given out later, thank you!

We had Jill Rouse (daughter of Ms. Rosabelle) and Alice Clay (lifelong friend of Ms. Rosabelle) come and entertain us today. Ms. Jill played the piano beautifully. Ms. Alice played the guitar and violin. We sang Christmas hymns together, and Ms. Jill played some piano solos as Ms. Alice played some musical solos on both her instruments. We finished off with some of the old gospel hymns. Ms. Alice did some yodeling too. The residents, public in attendance and staff enjoyed their entertainment, thank you both! We served our homemade toffee bars we made yesterday.

We had beautiful flowers from the Jeff Watkins family delivered to us on Friday, December 19, thank you. Taryn took the five arrangements and made them into 20, smaller arrangements that were distributed throughout the facility.

Mr. John Allens' family held an afternoon party on Saturday December 20 in the dining hall. They had a awesome charcuterie food board set up across two 8 foot tables! Thank you Denise Allen and Mrs. Allen for the wonderful party! Thank you to Ms. Dharma and Ms. Mary in the kitchen who helped them out.

The American Legion Post 0784 had Ms. Amy of Aunt Amys balloon party come and make snowmen for the residents, thank you! She does wonderful work.
