What Does A Buddy Concierge Do?

A Buddy provides calm, in-person support to your child during difficult moments.

They help the child feel safe, grounded, and understood and help them voice their options and contributions, while they move through grief, diagnosis, or major family change at their own pace.

Buddies are present. They do not force expression.

They do not lead therapy.

They simply walk alongside the child in real time.

This was an unexpected Respite. Most adorable little guy

A mom in crisis early morning with no option for her son, but she remembered, in her neighborhood there was a children's grief and family practitioner who owns a kids grief service with emergency respite.

She asked if I could sit with him while she checked in while dad was on his way flying home and yes ma'am, I can.

He ended up bonding quickly with me so he was able to just come to the healing house and wait for dad. He was exhausted and just wanted silence, toys and snacks.

His parents said knowing he was safe while mom was getting checked out, made a HUGE difference. Thank God this turned out to be a good situation for mom and baby.

That's why I do this. I remember having my 2 babies sitting in a hospital room alone in labor with baby 3 trying to figure out what to do and who I could call for help. I wish someone safe could have come to take my children. A child life specialist wasn't available so the only other option they give is social services and that answer is a hard no from me as someone who worked with DCS and CPS for years.

It warms my heart when I can do this for a mama and save them the anxiety and stress when they need to focus on the crisis. Dad came and picked up a happy little guy.

Children’s art is powerful because it’s theirs—pure, honest, and deeply personal story.

They don't need us to "fix" their creativity; they just need a place to tell their story and it's my job to put it together not enhance or change it.
