Winter can feel heavy and there’s a reason for that.

Shorter days, less sunlight, and colder temperatures all affect how the nervous system functions. When the body is under constant stress or running on low energy, emotions are often the first place we notice it.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, winter is a time to protect energy, not spend it. Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, support emotional balance, and prevent the slow buildup of burnout that often shows up later in the year.

You don’t need to force motivation in winter.

You need support, rest, and balance.

Emotional wellness is seasonal and winter deserves care too.

QingDao Wellness grew out of Kirby’s own experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine. After acupuncture played an important role in his recovery from a horseback riding injury, he felt called to help others experience that same kind of support and healing.

Today, Kirby works closely with each patient, meeting them where they are and guiding them through their individual wellness journey using the principles of TCM. Every path looks different, and he’s grateful to be part of so many along the way.

Happy New Year!

Here’s to a fresh start and new opportunities!

New year goals do not have to be extreme to be effective.

This year, focus on feeling better, not doing more. Supporting your nervous system, choosing consistency over intensity, and building habits that fit your life are what create lasting change.

If better sleep, less stress, and more balance are on your list for the year ahead, acupuncture can help support those goals.

What is one way you want to feel this year?

As this year wraps up, I just want to say thank you.

I’m grateful for every person I worked with, every conversation, and every session spent helping people feel better, calmer, and more balanced. Being able to support others through stress, pain, and everyday life is what makes this work meaningful to me.

Whether you booked a session, referred a friend, or simply followed along here, I truly appreciate your trust and support.

Thank you for being part of the QingDao Wellness community.

The days after Christmas always feel like a blur.

Half rest, half “what day is it,” half “should I start planning for next year?”

If you’re in that in-between space, this is your reminder to slow down and reset gently.

Not with pressure. Not with a full overhaul.

Just small choices that help you feel like yourself again.

Take your time. The year isn’t over yet...and you don’t need to sprint to the finish line.

The Winter Solstice lands on Sunday, and the days leading up to it are the perfect time for a slow reset.

Think warmth, rest, grounding energy, and simple rituals that help your mind and body settle.

Use this weekend to reflect, release, and welcome the return of the light.

Winter isn’t meant to be rushed, it’s meant to be felt.

If you’re craving a deeper sense of calm, this is your moment.
