September is and we want to use this as an opportunity to educate women on how to decrease the risk of ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer like many other conditions or illnesses can be prevented with consuming a nutritious diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy body weight, avoiding smoking, using oral contraceptives, and not using hormone replacement after menopause without consulting your doctor.

To schedule an appointment with us to check-in on your health and screen for any signs of cancer, call 480-895-9555.

When was the last time you were checked for sexually transmitted infections? Left untreated, an STI can lead to serious health problems in the future like cancer or pelvic inflammatory disease.

It is a good idea to be tested, even if you are married or in a long term relationship as a person can have an STI for years or decades without showing signs, like with the herpes simplex virus. Talk to your provider and ask how frequently you should be tested for STIs.

Schedule an appointment by calling or texting our office at 480-895-9555 today!✨

September is PCOS Month Awareness!

PCOS affects 1 in 10 women of childbearing age, but often goes undiagnosed. While the exact cause of PCOS isn’t always clear, it’s usually due to an imbalance of hormones called androgens in the body that disrupts the menstrual cycle and impedes the ovaries from maturing follicles into eggs and ovulating.

Pregnancy is a journey that you can share with your women’s health practitioner. Before getting pregnant, your provider can offer a pre-conception visit, which includes evaluations and counseling. They can recommend supplements that will promote a healthy pregnancy and discuss what you can expect during the process of conceiving. They can also get your health history and perform a variety of fertility assessments to help you learn more about your options.

During your pregnancy, it’s important to stay in regular contact with your provider. They can deliver routine prenatal care that ensures you and your baby are as healthy as possible. You’ll have roughly 12 to 15 visits with your provider from pre-conception through delivery. These visits provide an opportunity to voice questions and concerns, as well as receive routine screenings and counseling.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we’ll be here with you every step of the way, from pre-conception planning to delivery and beyond.

Call or text our office at 480-895-9555 to schedule a prenatal visit with us!
