This week PHX observes Disability Independence Day, a celebration of accessibility, resilience, and freedom of movement.

As part of our celebration, we highlight accessibility amenities here at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Today, we recognize the Compassion Corner, the centerpiece of our commitment to accessibility.

The Compassion Corner is a multi-faceted space for both customers and airport employees. This unique area encompasses three primary components: All Faiths Chapel, Sensory Room and the Compassion Corner office. The Compassion Corner is in Terminal 4, Level 3, on the east end of the terminal, near the B elevators. Check out the Compassion Corner during your next trip through PHX.

The bodies of people with Down syndrome regulate body temperature differently compared to people without Down syndrome. This can put them at a greater risk of overheating when they exercise, are in a warm room, or are outside in hot weather. As we enter the warmer summer months, it is important to keep this in mind. People with Down syndrome may need to drink more water, take more breaks, or move to a cooler place. This precious child has always had my heart! She was adopted out to the most amazing family and I got the honor of helping raise her when she needed someone to show her that love doesn’t hurt and family is a safe place. I thank God for the privilege to care for these precious children ❤️🙏🏼
