Leveraging Collaboration to Impact Haiti
Reflections from a Conversation with Haitians at Harvard and Beyond
Hosted by: Haitians at Harvard™ Harvard Kennedy School
This conference was a powerful reminder that change is built together—through leadership, service, and community. Here are 5 reflections Promoting Health in Haiti is carrying forward:
1. Leadership in Action
Leadership doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it’s quiet, intentional, and deeply rooted in trust. One story shared about a man who resolved an issue so seamlessly that no one even needed to ask questions showed what humble leadership really looks like.
2. The Power of Representation
Dr. Solanges Vivens reminded us that representation is revolutionary. Her impact spans media, health, and philanthropy—and she’s using her voice to uplift the next generation of Haitian women. Her success is shared, not solo.
3. Staying Grounded in Gratitude
Moments of thanks and quiet recognition flowed throughout the event. Gratitude stood out as a powerful connector—bridging generations, leaders, and movements.
4. Empowerment Through Service
Service isn’t a sidebar, it’s the strategy. We heard stories of food distribution, marches, and rebuilding efforts that planted seeds of real change. Hope here isn’t naïve…it’s active.
5. Strength in Community
From the energy in the room to the applause after each story, one thing was clear: building a better Haiti isn’t a solo mission. It’s a community project.
6. Rebuilding with Intention
Dr. Lindsey Beauboeuf reminded us that the most important question isn’t just what we build—but how we build it. In her moving talk, she asked: “How do we build a foundation on which we can create this healthcare system?” Her words were a call to move beyond quick fixes and instead dream boldly, design thoughtfully, and lay the groundwork for something lasting. A system rooted in dignity, not just delivery.
