Fascinated by how theories, history, and โ€œfactโ€ are framed, who is doing such framing, and how these factors affect our interpretation of ecological identity; this project aims to explore the legacy of struggle for economic, social, and environmental equality and its translation into modern day understanding of biocultural diversity.

Healing landscapes is a 6.5 foot x 3.5 foot dual-sided, interactive sculpture. It depicts a set of images on each sideโ€“โ€“ (1) Ghetto Ecosystem and (2) Subtly Natural; each of which can be shifted, altered, and transformed to create new visualized realities. Using ceramic tiles as a form of modular canvas.

โ€ข ๐’‰๐’†๐’๐’๐’, ๐’Ž๐’š ๐’๐’‚๐’Ž๐’† ๐’Š๐’”: Nala Carlynne

today is the first day in bringing Carlynne Ceramics to brick and mortar โ€”my very own my art therapy studio practice.

before now, i have been working my ass off to build a space for myself to heal and facilitate healing with others. of course the fact that there are spaces, especially working spaces, that cause and exacerbate the very work youโ€™re trying to dismantle is angering, saddening, and straight up painful.

but now i get to foster a space meant for my Black ass.

I donโ€™t have to sell my soul in order to work, create or heal. I donโ€™t have to make myself smaller or extraordinarily large to be seen. I donโ€™t have to be a freedom fighter or extinguish racism - both loud and silently infiltrated.

I get to just be me. Scared-sh*tless and excitedly ready to shift how taking care of myself and teaching others how doing so for themself- can look and feel different.
