At six years old, Kory began a journey that would help redefine what was once thought impossible.
Making the Impossible Possible — Kory’s Journey
Ten years. Four phases. One extraordinary life forever changed.
Today, Kory is a 17-year-old young man with a deep passion for music and guitars. He drives his own vehicle without adaptation, works out at the gym, plays basketball, and is stepping into the world with independence and confidence. Although he now stands among the tallest individuals with achondroplasia in the world, height is not what defines his success - his independence and ability to live life fully do.
One of Kory’s most meaningful moments came recently when a classmate noticed his hands and asked about them. Without hesitation, Kory simply explained that he has a form of dwarfism. His classmate was surprised and said he never would have known. In that moment, it wasn’t about height or differences — it was about confidence, self-acceptance, and living life in a way where his condition no longer defines him.
Kory’s remarkable journey reflects his incredible strength and determination. His ten-year story represents a major milestone, as he became the youngest person to successfully complete all four phases of limb lengthening. His experience has also been recognized as pioneering, helping to demonstrate what is possible with today’s advancing treatments.
When this journey first began, little did we know that Kory would become part of groundbreaking medical advancements. He was the first pediatric patient to receive custom PRECICE internal rods and the first to undergo bilateral four-segment leg lengthening while receiving daily Voxzogo injections, highlighting the rapid progress in medical technology as of February 2023.
What he has accomplished is truly extraordinary, and his story stands as a lasting reminder that courage, innovation, and determination can make what once seemed “Impossible Possible”. We are beyond proud of his strength, his courage, and his unbreakable spirit. This is a journey no child should ever have to walk, but he faced it with bravery beyond his years.
As a mother, you never leave a single stone unturned when it comes to your child. You search for answers, you hold onto hope, and you do everything in your power to give them the best possible future. Watching Kory overcome every challenge and grow into the strong, confident young man he is today has been the greatest privilege of my life.
We are also deeply grateful for the incredible support we have received along the way. From his medical team, to our family, friends, and everyone who followed his journey and offered encouragement, your support meant more than words can ever express. You helped carry us through some of the hardest moments, and we will never forget it.
