The journey of every EMT starts with that first step somewhere. This week, that "somewhere" was no further than in Warren and Washington Counties.
This week 26 students began their journey to becoming NYS EMT's, a commitment that requires discipline, dedication, hard work, and a willingness to be uncomfortable while learning. Every challenge carries growth you can’t always see in the moment, but it shapes you in ways that last.
From different backgrounds, counties, agencies, and areas of expertise, these students will come together over several months to grow, learn new skills, and better serve their communities in a new capacity.
Over the coming weeks (and months), they will build clinical skills, confidence, and professional judgment. Just as importantly, they will learn the value of teamwork, humility, and compassion under pressure. They’ll discover how to stay steady in uncertain moments, how to carry responsibility with care, how small, consistent choices can make a lasting difference in someone else’s worst day, and how the quiet moments of professionalism matter just as much as the big ones.
We’re proud to be part of this journey with you and honored to have the opportunity to work with you as you become New York State EMTs.
