‼️Black dads deserve attention too!

The reality is that as a licensed clinician who has been trained to think systemically, I can’t provide adequate support to moms without considering their partner’s wellbeing. And for Black history month, I want to bring awareness to the experience of Black moms and dads.

Here’s what I hear Black dads say they need:

👉🏾 A safe space to be vulnerable

👉🏾 Acknowledgement of their feelings

Changing the way maternal health care is provided, requires us to consider the experiences of dads.

I hope this post resonates with you & if it does hit the ❤️ and share this to your stories! Help bring awareness to the experience of Black fathers!

‼️Black moms deserve so much better!

👉🏾We are most likely to be diagnosed with postpartum depression and the least likely to be referred for additional services.

👉🏾We desire to have the support, but fear of judgment and lack of access, serve as barriers to actually getting care.

👉🏾We wish to connect with providers who look like us & if we can’t have that, we want providers who are committed to offering cultural competent care without judgment!

Changing the way maternal health care is delivered to Black mothers is a deep passion of mine! Stay tuned to see what I’ve been working on as it relates to this!

In the meantime, if this posts resonates with you, hit the ❤️ and share this in your stories! Help to bring awareness to the experience of Black mothers!

these were the things they said to you?

‼️January 27 at 8pm EST… I need you to join me on here to talk about why those patterns are present‼️

I’m not saying this to you to place blame. I say this because it’s a dynamic that I see with my couples all of the time… one person usually comes in blaming the other partner for whatever issues they’re experiencing & the expectation is for me to “fix them”.

How do I know this? Well…

✨I’m a licensed marriage & family therapist with over a decade of experience and,

✨I teach married moms how to better prioritize themselves so they can stop carrying the load alone & build better partnerships with their spouse.

This post & the Live is for you if…
👉🏾 You felt slightly annoyed after reading the slides because it struck a nerve

👉🏾 You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed and walking around with a build up of resentment

👉🏾 You feel like you’re not the one who needs to change

👉🏾 You’re ready to address the societal and cultural norms that keep you stuck with carrying the load

💭What questions do you have about how to make that shift? What feelings did this post bring up for you? Let me know in the comments!

❤️Take a moment to share this post with a mom friend or client you know is struggling with the overwhelm❤️

✨I’m Hazel, a licensed marriage & family therapist with over a decade of experience

✨I teach married moms how to better prioritize themselves so they can stop carrying the load alone & build better partnerships with their spouse.

🤔Here’s the question I need you to reflect on…

Are you tired of feeling like you have to do it all? Managing the household, juggling responsibilities, and carrying the mental load — it’s exhausting, and it’s NOT sustainable.

Creating a life where you no longer carry the load alone means:

✨ Letting go of the pressure to be “everything” to everyone.

✨ Asking for help without guilt or shame.

✨ Recognizing patterns that keep you stuck — and learning how to break them.

✨ Releasing the weight of managing other people’s feelings.

It’s time to build the partnership and life you deserve — one where YOU are supported, seen, and prioritized.

💡 Which of these are you working on right now? Let me know in the comments — and don’t forget to follow for more ways to stop carrying the load alone!

I decided to give this “ins & outs” trend a try! What else would you add to the list? What are you doing differently for self care this year?

❤️Save this post to come back to if you found it helpful & share with a mom friend who could use these tips❤️

One thing I want to clarify about the “what’s their’s” question is this… you have to stop withholding your needs in anticipation of how your partner might respond.

You are NOT responsible for how your partner chooses to feel and express their emotions. Holding in your needs and keeping your frustrations to yourself will lead to a build up of resentment. And if you’ve been following me long enough you know that I say, resentment is a pain in the a$$ to get rid of once it is present in your relationship.

So, if you’ve are the mom who is ready to release yourself from the burden of carrying what doesn’t belong to you, DM me to learn about the Moms Owning Motherhood Program aka The M.O.M Program.

If you’ve found this post helpful, share it to your stories if it resonates, drop a ❤️ in the comments and remember to save this post to come back to!
