This week, we had the honor of helping a sweet couple transition into assisted living โ their fourth downsize. Each move gets harder, not just logistically, but emotionally too.๐ฅฒ
This one came with an extra twist: we werenโt just packing for one location. We had to sort everything between their new home and their daughterโs garage โ so every item needed a decision, a label, and a destination. It definitely added to the challenge, but we do love a good puzzle. ๐งฉ
The husband, who is living with dementia, shared stories with me as we sorted through a lifetime of memories. Sculptures, art, and his military memorabilia (which we upgraded from a dusty shoebox to a box worthy of his service). And yesโฆ his old, well-loved chair that his wife insisted had to go to the trash? It went to the new home. Because that chair is his comfort zone, his safe space โ and when you're facing a big change, that kind of comfort and familiarity matters more than anything.๐
Huge shoutout to my incredible team, Katie and Maddalenaโ not only did they handle high-end packing and heavy lifting, sentimental moments, and juggling multiple destinations, but they brought heart, humor, and support through it all. โค๏ธ These moves are emotional and physical, but weโve got each other. And that makes all the difference. We love what we do!!
