Sunscreen 101 with Boston Plastic Surgery ☀️

Not all SPF is created equal—here’s what you need to know to protect your skin year-round:
🔆 Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreen
• Mineral (Physical) Sunscreen uses zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to sit on top of your skin and physically block UV rays. It works immediately, is great for sensitive skin, and is often less irritating.
• Chemical Sunscreen absorbs UV rays and converts them into heat, using ingredients like avobenzone, oxybenzone, or octinoxate. These formulas tend to be more sheer and blendable, but may irritate sensitive or acne-prone skin.
