Students in NSG 320: Nursing Concepts I, a junior-level medical surgical course, taught by Dr. Lacey Petersen EdD, MSN, RN, recently completed their creative choice projects. Students elect to work individually or in a group to complete the assignment. Students choose a medical-surgical related topic or concept and develop a creative piece. Examples of student projects submitted this semester include, but are not limited to, the development of board games, writing and illustrating children’s books, creating health posters and flyers, completing a critical analysis of movie and television series that depicts a health problem, presenting a children’s educational program to a local school classroom on what to expect when going to surgery, creating of body system art/models/visual aids, and even the creation of an original song lyrics and piano accompaniment on neurovascular compromise and compartment syndrome! The students did amazing work and some examples are provided.
