📢 Attention Illinois WIC Families! 📢

Starting February 1, 2026, Illinois WIC will begin transitioning to Abbott (Similac brand) infant formula.

We know changes to your baby's routine are a big deal, so we’ve gathered the key details you need to know:

🔹What is changing?
Illinois WIC is moving from Mead Johnson (Enfamil) to Abbott (Similac) products. The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) has carefully selected nutritionally comparable options to ensure a smooth and healthy transition for your little ones.

🔹Why the change?
To serve as many families as possible, federal regulations require WIC to bid for the best value on formula. This allows us to use our resources wisely and continue supporting our community!

🔹When will this happen?
February 1, 2026: The transition begins.

February – April 2026: You will receive your new Abbott formula benefits during your normally scheduled WIC appointment.

May 1, 2026: All Illinois WIC families will be fully transitioned to Abbott formula.

🔹What do I need to do?
You don’t need to make a special trip! Your WIC staff will walk you through the change and issue your new benefits at your next regular appointment.

🔹Questions? We are here to help! Contact your local WIC clinic for more information.
