We provide an environment with caring and compassionate staff who are dedicated to maintaining quality of life. Max is the sweetest man ever!

This Virginia Tech fan loves all sports! (and no, you can not persuade him to change teams!) March Madness is the best time of year for this guy! (We caught him cheering for the Jayhawks, but don’t tell him!) He has also added the Royals to his list of favorite teams!

Max is an amazing woodworker and still enjoys making little projects here at the LTC. He also enjoys cooking; and would often try to persuade the staff to let him in the kitchen. (So he could teach them how to season the food and cook it just a little bit better.)

Max is funny and sarcastic right along with the staff and he loves all his girls! (It’s been reported that this man can “primp” for quite a while; his “beauty time” as he calls it. All so he can look good for his girls.)

Always down for a good time. If he’s not at an activity, he’s visiting his wife. Loves kids. Patient. Stubborn.

We will miss you Max!

She is a joy to visit with and enjoys having long conversations about life experiences.

We may not have known you long, but you became a part of our tribe pretty quick.

Martha is the very definition of a “mama bear”.

She loves with her whole heart. She cares with her whole heart. Worries with her whole heart.

Those that are fortunate enough to be loved by her, are protected by her fiercely! (Shes also not afraid to threaten to kick some butt! She’s a green belt in Karate.)

Martha has such a fun personality, full of love and laughter. She’s always willing to try new activities and loves to dance. She loves to be involved.

Martha walks miles a day up and down our halls, smiling at everyone she passes, eyes sparkling. These halls will not be the same without you.

This Bingo and music loving gal left us today. She was heard repeatedly telling everyone, “I love you” and even sang to the girls on the trip to her new home.

Ila is very much a girly girl, and loves getting pampered by the girls. Hair and nails being done frequently is a must. She loves pretty things!

Ila enjoys Art class and loves party socials. She enjoys visiting with her pastor and anyone else that stops by.

She definitely had her favorite staff members (cough, Jonathan, cough) but she was very accepting to everyone. She has a big heart and loves to laugh!

Ila, we will miss you!

Yesterday we also said goodbye to our dear friend, Marlin Knouf.

Marlin is a very content person and very much a homebody. But that doesn’t halt is social life!

You can often find a staff member in his room, engaging in conversation. Marlin is a very good listener.

We also learned that with a special occasion or party we can lure him out to the dining room, with a promise to have fun!

Marlin, we will miss you.

Our dearest Jackie (Jaquetta Houser) went to her eternal home.

At 102 years old, Jackie still enjoyed the occasional beer, loved eating suckers and listening to music with her headphones.

Jackie built herself an amazing family and we are so thankful that they entrusted her to us for the last 6 years.

She was such an amazing and special woman! We loved hearing stories about Jackie. If you have any, please share in the comments!

Today we said goodbye to a good friend. A guy who always has a story to tell and loves giving advice to the younger staff.

Galen loves to joke around and is ALWAYS looking for a reason to have a party as an activity! Loves playing BINGO and is always up for going down to Center Pivot and main street for gatherings.

He loves playing cards! (It’s a good thing we don’t have a curfew, because him and Rosie would stay out till midnight on Saturday playing Pinochle in Morland.)

He often sits outside the North Activity doors on the new patio, on his phone and playing games. He’ll talk to anyone who stops! (And if you honk at him enough as you drive by, he’ll give you this look, like, “You again?? 🙄)

(Since this is the ONLY post, about just Rich, that he will ever let us write, we’re going to make it count!)

Rich is stubborn and grumpy.

Rich does not mind butting heads with staff, pushing buttons or being, in general, one ornery dude.

Rich will ALWAYS tell you no the first time you ask him to go to an activity. (Even though he ALWAYS changes his mind and enjoys every minute, of said activity.)

It took us some time to adjust to one another; but once we did..

…

We realized his rough and grumpy exterior is a “tough guy” act!

That Rich has the softest heart.

That he cares deeply about the other residents and staff and their wellbeing.

That he’s a jokester and loves to make people laugh.

That this lifelong Gove County resident is just a country boy at heart and enjoys the simple things in life.

Rich, we will miss you!
