During Disaster Day, Radford Nursing seniors respond to a large-scale simulated mass casualty event; triaging patients, assessing injuries, and working alongside emergency professionals in a high-intensity learning experience.

We are so proud of our Radford University nursing students who represented the College of Nursing at Advocacy Day in Richmond! This annual event, one of the longest-running experiences among Virginia public universities, gives students the chance to engage directly with the legislative process and share the value of their education.

“Advocacy Day is about giving back to the University and asking for the state’s legislature to help continue making Radford an amazing University. We highlighted the experiences that Radford has given us that we wouldn’t have had otherwise. We also met with legislators and asked for their continued support for Radford and more specifically their support in affordability and development of new facilities for the Roanoke campus. After our meeting we were welcomed into the Executive Mansion and met with the governor and shared just a little bit about what makes Radford special.” -V. Vann '26

During the holiday season, one of our students chose to give back in a meaningful way, spreading kindness, generosity, and hope throughout the Giles County community. Acts like this remind us that leadership and compassion extend far beyond the classroom. We are incredibly proud of Brianna and the difference she is making!✨🩺

A 19-year-old nursing student’s childhood vision has grown into an eight-year tradition of serving free Christmas dinners to her community in Giles County, Virginia.

This year for Highlander Giving Day, the College of Nursing Emergency Fund has been selected.

The College of Nursing Emergency Fund provides financial support to students facing unexpected financial challenges, enabling them to continue their nursing education. This fund directly supports students throughout their journey to becoming registered nurses. Our nursing students work hard to balance challenging coursework and the demands of everyday life, and they often take on part-time jobs to make ends meet. Unfortunately, unexpected expenses can arise, like required travel to clinical training assignments and essential work-required equipment, and our nursing students need a helping hand to keep them on track for graduation.
