When your pet arrives, our team moves fast and with care. We begin with triage to prioritize life-threatening conditions, perform diagnostics, and stabilize vital signs — all with clear communication so you know exactly what’s happening every step of the way.

Our 24-hour hospital at 306 E Main St. Radford, VA - means immediate interventions are available to improve recovery outcomes, stabilize your pet, and facilitate referral to a specialist when others are closed for the weekend.

Emergency, Call, or Monitor? 🐾 Use this quick guide to decide what to do for your pet:

Emergency: difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, collapse, hit by a car, seizures

Call your Vet: Ear or skin issues, limping that doesn’t improve, decreased appetite >24 hours

Monitor at home: Mild coughing, sneezing, diarrhea

As we head into the holiday season, we wanted to share our December 2025 – January 2026 urgent care and emergency availability.

While our hours will remain the same, please know this decision was not made lightly. We would truly love to be available for our community on every holiday. However, appropriate staffing continues to be one of the biggest challenges in the veterinary field, and our top priority will always be providing the highest standard of care possible.

Our goal moving into the new year is to continue growing our team so we can safely extend our hours, especially during holidays when emergencies tend to occur more frequently. In just four months, NRVES has expanded tremendously, and we are incredibly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us and for allowing us to care for your pets. Please know that every single patient truly means the world to us💚
