Rise & Whine #320: Listening for Tone

The artful mumbling of the character Paw Rugg in the old cartoon "The Hillbilly Bears" reminds Dr. Dave of why we should listen for the tone in others' voices when they're talking.

From giving away items to witnessing what others find valuable, there’s a lot to learn about appreciating what we have! Read the blog post below to see how a small act of giving can change your perspective.

https://www.weimanconsulting.com/2025/10/buy-nothing/

I participate in a local “Buy Nothing” group where people exchange things within the community. I used it when I moved offices to rehome some items I no longer had room for in my new space but thought others might find useful. It was a wonderful experience to give those things away. Another inte...

One of the most frequent questions we get is, "How long is a typical coaching engagement?"

Our answer: It depends on the needs of the client.

A complete program is typically 6 months, following an assessment and feedback. However, we work with many clients "as needed." Much like you might call on an attorney or financial advisor, you call us when you need us. And when you do, we're ready to help.

Ever tried something when all signs pointed to failure? Sometimes, taking matters into your own hands reveals more than meets the eye! In the blog post below, I share an airport lounge story that taught me a valuable lesson about persistence and self-belief.

https://www.weimanconsulting.com/2025/10/belief-in-our-own-magic-touch/

I was in an airport lounge two weeks ago, and side by side were two coffee and espresso machines. Both machines had screens, but both screens were blank. Despite this, the staff hadn’t put up a sign to say they were out of order. People kept walking up to the touch screens, pressing them, and […...

Ever been asked to pass along a message that didn’t quite land? In the blog post below, I share a farmers market story with a lesson: it’s not always about who’s delivering the message, but who’s receiving it.

https://www.weimanconsulting.com/2025/10/dont-be-the-messenger/

I was at a farmers market over the weekend and told the person ringing up my order how much I loved a product they sell. She replied, “I really like hearing that! Would you please tell our boss? He’s over there, and he doesn’t listen to us when we tell him, but if you told […]

I recently heard a unique metaphor that explores why childhood friendships often last a lifetime
If you have lifelong friends, this one’s for you!

https://www.weimanconsulting.com/2025/09/the-fish-hatchery/

I was having dinner the other night with a former professor, who is still a mentor of mine, and we were talking about how both of us still have friends from elementary school that we see on a regular basis. I asked him why he thought these early friendships had endured for so long, and […]
