So fun!!!
🌟 Something extraordinary is coming to Hoke County 🌟
If you are part of the HCPAT program, you got a sneak peek at this news back in July. Now it's time to reveal it publicly! See the exciting announcement below:
The Robert A. Wright Building in Raeford (645 E Palmer St) is about to become a place where our community can learn, play, gather, and grow together. The Hoke County Community Garden and Playscape will give our community a beautiful space to connect with nature, enjoy hands-on learning, explore, move, and create lasting memories with family, friends, and neighbors. Inspired by community connection, a love for nature, and a desire to bring those 2 priorities together, it will unite people with the earth and with each other.
In partnership between Hoke County Parents As Teachers, the Hoke County Cooperative Extension, and amazing local volunteers, fueled by generous donors, we are creating something bold, beautiful, and built by the community.
🌳 The Community Garden & Playscape 🌳
Features will include an outdoor classroom for Cooperative Extension programs, Parents As Teachers Group Connections, childcare center field trips, and more. Visitors will also enjoy a sensory garden, a trail through the woods, a water feature, educational signage, and music and art woven throughout. See the blueprint below for a comprehensive look at the space and the vision we are building together.
📅 First Volunteer Day
Friday, October 10 | 9 AM – 5 PM
On this day, we will build onto an already amazing starter garden created by our Horticulture Agent Ashley Grubb and the Hoke County Master Gardeners by planting trees, installing demonstration beds, and shaping the heart of this incredible space.
💌 Sign up to volunteer by contacting Ashley directly at avgrubb@ncsu.edu
🌱 Help grow this vision
We have a starter fund of $1,000 generously donated by Mustard Seed Farm & Market, and they will match up to an additional $5,000 in donations if we can raise that amount before December 31, 2025. Contact Hoke County Parents As Teachers for details on how to donate, and watch for other opportunities to donate and volunteer to be shared on social media.
Let’s dream, build, and grow something together. See you all on October 10th as we work together to create something truly magical!💚
