Our article dives into how TBAs are being integrated into systems through the Strengthening Systems for Safer Childbirth initiative in India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. With our collaborators Partners In Health, HSDF and Mymdoc, we’re combining community trust and formal health system improvements to help create impact, such as training TBAs to make timely referrals for prompt medical attention.

Did you know that many women in Kenya and Nigeria are asked to find and pay for their own maternal medicines, even after reaching a health facility to give birth? New research from 60 Decibels, supported by funding from our initiative, captures the voices of over 2,000 women navigating health care in these regions. Their experiences reveal persistent gaps in the availability and affordability of quality care, challenges echoed across many low- and middle-income countries.

Our recent article published in Devex highlights the changes that need to be made so that no woman is left to navigate childbirth without essential medicines. Read more here: https://bit.ly/4feG4ob
