Raines Family Medicine For Dr. Raines, practicing medicine has always been about family. He believes that medicine is not a one-size fits all solution. He is the third of six children.

Dr. Raines was born and raised in Southwest Georgia. With both his mother and father being administrators at his hometown hospital and nursing home he was exposed to medicine at an early age. His older brother is a family physician as well. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, he earned his medical degree at KCUMB in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency in family medicine at what is now known as St. Vincent’s East in Trussville, Alabama. Instead he treats individuals facing a full range of medical problems with an aggressive, caring approach, he treats patients of all ages. Dr. Raines has been in private medical practice for more than 14 years. The past 3 years have been spent in the Gadsden area. He and his wife Janice have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. They currently reside in Gadsden.

Sorry for the late post. We at Raines Family Medicine are sad to say goodbye to Ginger Brown, CRNP. She was a great asset to our practice and will be greatly missed by our staff and her patients. Ginger has chosen to leave family practice to pursue other career paths possible outside of medicine. We wish her well in her new life choices. To all of her patients, Emily Emanuelsen, CRNP will be honored to continue serving you as your primary care provider. She and Dr. Raines look forward to providing you with the same high-quality, compassionate care you have come to expect.

We are so excited to announce the new addition to our staff. Meet Emily Emanuelsen, CRNP

Emily is a Family Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the University of Alabama with a MSN and is certified through AANP. She also completed her BSN at the University of Alabama and has over 19 years of RN experience at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Emily spent 11 years as the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Unit and, in this role, was appointed Clinical Manager of the year in 2015 and served on numerous committees to improve patient care and outcomes.

Emily grew up in Gadsden, AL, and still resides here with her husband, Jason, and their golden retriever, Morgan, Emily and Jason are fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends in Gadsden as well. Emily is passionate about helping others and is excited to begin a new endeavor as a nurse practitioner at Raines Family Medicine, where she will continue to care for patients in her community and build lasting relationships.
