Today is National Stroke Awareness Day, an important reminder of the impact strokes have on individuals and families. For patients living with the long-term effects of a stroke, hospice care offers support that focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Our team helps manage symptoms such as pain, mobility challenges, and communication difficulties while also providing emotional and spiritual care for both patients and their loved ones. On this day, we recognize the strength of stroke survivors and the families who support them.

Spiritual support is a cornerstone of hospice care. During National Spiritual Care Week, we celebrate our chaplains and spiritual counselors who walk alongside patients and families, offering comfort, prayer, and presence during some of life’s most tender moments. Whether through words of encouragement, listening ears, or shared prayer, spiritual care brings peace and hope when it’s needed most.

Early detection saves lives. National Mammography Day is a reminder for women to schedule regular mammograms, an essential step in finding breast cancer early, when it is most treatable. For the families we serve, we know how valuable preventive care can be. Encourage the women in your life to take this step towards protecting their health.

Last night, Hospice of Alabama hosted a beautiful memorial celebration honoring our previous patients and their families. It was such a meaningful evening, filled with laughter, love, and remembrance as we reflected on the journeys we’ve shared.

Guests enjoyed a delicious pasta buffet, live music from a wonderful local band, and a heartfelt slideshow tribute to those we’ve had the privilege of serving.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate and remember the lives that continue to touch our hearts.

Help us continue to advocate for good handwashing and for a healthy future. Handwashing may be simple, but it is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent illness and protect lives. On Global Handwashing Day, we are reminded that small actions, like washing hands properly with soap and water, can have a big impact in protecting patients, families, and caregivers. In hospice care, these daily practices are part of how we ensure safety and comfort for all.
