What Is Diastasis Recti? In short, it's a gap in between your right and left abdominal wall muscles that can result in a rounded, protruding belly. When this connective tissue gets stretched or torn, the re**us muscle can become separated, which is known as Diastasis Recti (DR).

Physical therapy offers a number of ways to treat this separation while restoring optimal strength and stability to the core system as a whole. For more information on how physical therapy can help, visit: https://gracepelvichealth.com/services/diastasis-recti/

Pelvic floor health is often misunderstood, especially in youth sports. An international study of elite U20 athletes revealed that nearly half reported symptoms like pelvic pain or urinary leakage during competition—issues that can affect focus, confidence, and long-term well-being.

What’s most concerning? The majority had never been screened or received guidance, meaning problems went unnoticed and untreated. These findings highlight how common—and overlooked—pelvic floor dysfunction really is, even among top performers.

For parents, coaches, and athletes, this research is a wake-up call. Understanding the risks is the first step toward better support, stronger performance, and healthier futures.

Learn why early awareness matters and what can be done to protect young athletes:
