I start with slow gliding strokes to introduce my touch and warm up the muscle tissue, as I do this I apply deeper pressure over time.

There is no quick fix with tight muscles, you have to go slow, warm up, and apply deeper pressure over time. This allows the muscles to work with you. Never just start out with deep pressure, muscles begin to tighten and you as the client tension up and now everything is working against you as the therapist and that’s no fun!
