🌟 Celebrating Dr. Mary Frances Moody! 🌟

On Wednesday, we had the joy of celebrating Dr. Mary Frances Moody, who received the Lifetime Service Achievement Award from the Medical Staff!

Former physician Dr. Allison Jacokes had the honor of presenting the award and gave a heartfelt speech recognizing Dr. Moody as a natural-born leader with a rare gift for identifying challenges, finding solutions, and bringing together the right people and resources to make lasting improvements.

Dr. Moody’s impact on women’s healthcare in our community is extraordinary. In 2001, with the support of Valerie Bedsole, Dr. Paula Gizzie, and Dr. Linda Mohr, she founded Associates in Women’s Healthcare—Raleigh’s first all-female OB/GYN practice.

Over her 20+ years on staff at Rex, Dr. Moody has:
👶 Delivered thousands of babies
👩‍⚕️Performed countless surgeries
🤝 Served on the OB/GYN Executive Committee (2005–2020)
🌸 Led as Vice Chair (2015–2016) and Chair (2017–2018) of the OB/GYN Department
🤖 Launched the gynecologic robotic surgery program and became the first gynecologist to perform robotic procedures at Rex
🏥 Helped establish the OB Hospitalist Program and OB Emergency Room
🩺 Designed key safety protocols and the OB Emergency Simulation Program for nurses and physicians

Dr. Moody went on to serve as Vice President of the Medical Staff in 2019 and President in 2020, guiding her colleagues through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with grace and strength.

We are so proud of Dr. Moody’s brilliance, leadership, and unwavering dedication to women’s health.

Meet the Newest Member of Our Team: Dr. Kelsey Williamson Applegath! ✨

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Kelsey Williamson Applegath to our practice! A proud North Carolinian, Dr. Williamson Applegath earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and Women & Gender Studies from NC State. She went on to complete medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill and finished her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Williamson Applegath is now accepting new patients – we are so excited for you to meet her!

What great words to live by! Martin Luther King Jr. Day is also known as a Federal Day of Service. This reflects the values of Dr. King, where he was able to lead through non-violence, promoting justice, love and education. We acknowledge his works, and the progress that has been made over the past 60 years. In the spirit of education, our office book drive was able to donate books about diversity to the Central Children’s home in Oxford. And we will continue to incorporate his values into our daily lives. Our office is operating during regular hours today in observance of the holiday.
