Wound care has changed a lot in the last decade. The old idea of “letting a wound dry out” is outdated — and can actually slow healing.

For foot ulcers — especially on the bottom of the foot — offloading (removing pressure from the wound) is often essential. That may include specialized footwear, braces, or custom total-contact casts.
