February 25 is HCM Awareness Day and we’re highlighting early detection of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, an underdiagnosed genetic heart condition affecting 1 in 500 people of all ages.

On this special day, we salute the groundbreaking work of Dr. Eugene Braunwald, whose seminal studies at the NIH in the 1960s defined the diagnosis of HCM as a clinical entity and served as the foundation for advancements in echocardiographic diagnosis, genetic testing, and risk stratification for sudden cardiac death.

Learn more about Dr. Braunwald and contribute to the Eugene Braunwald, MD Endowed Lecture. This speakership enables HCMS to host pioneering researchers and pre-eminent thought leaders at our annual scientific sessions.
