If you or someone you know is struggling with this, remember: change is possible. Healing rewires the brain and restores balance. Every small step counts. You’re not alone on this journey.

Two men from opposite worlds—a mayor and someone once behind bars—coming together to lead change where it’s needed most. This isn’t something you are used to seeing in Apex, NC. But Mayor Jacques Gilbert and Hollan Steen are proving that real change doesn’t happen in silos. It happens when lived experience and leadership come together, and when people stop worrying about who gets the credit—and just do the work.
