Elizabeth Fikes breaks down how creativity, structure, and clinical intention come together to reach adolescents when traditional approaches fall short.

Empowering students to make informed choices starts with education and open conversations.

New Waters Recovery’s Medical Director, Dr. Harold Hong, recently visited the Tri Delta sorority at UNC-Chapel Hill to lead a conversation on current drug trends, the rise of emerging substances, and how education can help communities stay safe.

The discussion explored topics such as cannabis use in modern culture, the growing presence of 7OH Kratom, and the dangers of fentanyl.

Kratom dependence is rising quickly, largely due to the increasing popularity of 7-OH. This highly potent form of kratom can create rapid tolerance and a withdrawal process that catches people off guard. If you’ve tried to stop on your own and felt overwhelmed by symptoms that seem impossible to manage without support, you’re not alone.

New Waters Recovery offers medically supervised kratom detox where clients receive physician oversight, symptom management, and a clinical plan to stabilize safely. This is not a detox to attempt on your own.

Call our admissions team today for a confidential conversation about your kratom use. 919-670-8119
