Grief is a personal journey, often complex and difficult to understand. It can feel overwhelming and isolating, especially since no two people grieve in the same way. The process isn’t linear. It can come in waves, sometimes hitting us unexpectedly at moments we least expect. Grief calls for patience and compassion, both from those who are grieving and from those who support them.

One valuable resource we recommend to help children navigate their emotions during times of loss is When Things Pass Away by Dr. Tevis Harris. This book provides an insightful approach to helping children understand and cope with grief. Through simple language and engaging illustrations, Dr. Harris creates a safe space for children to process their feelings, answer their questions, and begin to heal in their own time. It’s a wonderful tool for parents, caregivers, educators and mental health professionals looking to support children as they navigate such a challenging emotional experience.
