You don’t need a new awareness month to know you’re stressed. You’ve probably been carrying it for a while. Putting off support doesn’t mean you don’t care. It usually just means it feels like too much to figure out. If therapy has been sitting in the “I’ll get to it” category, you’re not behind. When you’re ready, Ellie can help make that first step feel a little more manageable.

You don’t have to be falling apart to need support. Most stress doesn’t look dramatic. It looks like:

- being tired all the time
- snapping quicker than usual
- overthinking everything at 2am

That’s still stress. And it still deserves care.

This Stress Awareness Month, we’re talking about the everyday kind. The kind people push through instead of getting support for. Therapy isn’t just for crisis. It’s for the life you’re living right now.

Progress Doesn’t Have to Be Loud

Growth can look like getting out of bed, setting one boundary, or asking for help. It doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful. Small steps still count! And they add up over time. 🩵🐘

Having trouble calming your anxiety and telling yourself that it'll all be fine? 🧘 Try these skills:

1. Box Breathing- This is when you inhale for four counts, hold your breath for four counts, exhale for four counts, and then hold for four counts. Repeat this pattern a few times. ✨ The even and controlled nature of box breathing can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting a sense of calmness and reducing stress.

2. Get a cold glass of water- The act of getting up, moving, and focusing on drinking a cold glass of water can serve as a distraction from anxious thoughts. 🚰 Sipping cold water activates the vagus nerve, which promotes a relaxation response, counteracting the body's stress response.

3. Listen to music- Music has been shown to activate various areas of the brain associated with emotions, memory, and reward. 🧠 It can release neurotransmitters like dopamine, which contribute to feelings of pleasure and happiness, counteracting the negative impact of anxiety.

Struggling to set boundaries without feeling like the bad guy?

This podcast episode is for anyone who's ever struggled to say no, felt drained by unclear expectations, or wondered how to protect their peace without burning bridges.

Therapists Miranda Barker, LICSW, Letisha Harris, MA and Madison Wozniak, LCSW have an honest, practical conversation inspired by the book "Set Boundaries, Find Peace" by Nedra Glover Tawwab.

We explore:
🔹 What healthy boundaries actually look like in real life
🔹 How trauma and guilt can make boundary-setting harder
🔹 The difference between time, material, emotional, and internal boundaries
🔹 How we've grown (and stumbled) through boundary work ourselves

Whether you’re a therapist, a client, or just someone navigating the messiness of relationships, this episode offers tools and takeaways you can use right away. Here's the link to the episode on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/07cgH1wdmbfORDCfHiT0Bp?si=73TM0KZzQlSqSCGyreN-lg
