Have you heard of “paced bottle feeding?” Most infants take a bottle at some point during their first year. How you give that bottle can be important - especially if your baby has had difficulty with breast or bottle feeding. In the neonatal intensive care unit, we used the strategy of paced bottle feeding with most of the infants because premature infants aren’t yet able to effectively coordinate sucking, swallowing, and breathing. In recent years, this strategy has become mainstream. While typically, slowing down bottle feeding is a good thing, it isn’t always necessary. Read our latest blog post to learn more. Link in bio!

From the tender age of 4, I proclaimed I wanted to be a “baby doctor.” And, while I might not have the letters “MD” behind my name, I do have a variety of other ones that show my lifelong dedication to infants and their development. I went from playing with dolls, to babysitting and nannying, to a degree in early childhood special education which led to my first career as an infant and toddler educator, and then back to school to become an occupational therapist so that I could work with infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Most recently, I added the letters IBCLC so that I could further support mothers and their breastfeeding infants. I think this little girl would agree....working with babies is the best job in the world. ❤️

😴Sleep is so important for your little one. Did you know that while they are sleeping, their brain is growing? That’s right! Neuronal connections are made during sleep.
😴 Good rest is also important for practicing new skills such as eating. And good feeding supports good sleep.
😴If your baby is 0-3 months old, they should be getting 14-17 hours of sleep each day.
