In 2023, the tournament rebranded as the UNC Health Championship, reflecting a new era in its long-standing tradition of excellence. This transition and relocation to a new home at renowned Raleigh Country Club further elevated the Championship’s Triangle presence. The UNC Health Championship offers fans an up-close look at tomorrow’s golf superstars while maintaining a strong commitment to community engagement. Set in Raleigh, the tournament provides a world-class experience for players, sponsors, and spectators alike. As the tournament continues to evolve, the UNC Health Championship builds on its proud history while looking toward the future, delivering exceptional golf and a lasting legacy for the sport in North Carolina.

Our Story

The REX Hospital Open is a four day professional golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour (PGA TOUR). May 28-31, 2020 held at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation, a McConnell Golf property in North Raleigh. The Korn Ferry Tour features *excellent* golf on the Path to the PGA Tour.

The Rex Open brings premiere golf and family-friendly entertainment to the Triangle each year. Over 30 years, The Rex Open has raised more than $8.4 million to support patients here in our community. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the expansion of neuroscience care and specialty services at UNC REX, supporting patients confronted with stroke, aneurysms, traumatic brain injury and other neurological diseases.

More than 450 volunteers make the Rex Open run smoothly. And, 100+ sponsors including the Carolina Hurricanes, First Citizens Bank, Gregory Poole Equipment Company and Coca Cola support the tournament’s charitable efforts.

First responders, Wake County Public School employees and active & retired military are provided complimentary admission.
