Months ago strolling around Chapel Hill, I happened upon some intriguing architectural ornament reminiscent of 1920s Art Deco. Snapping a couple of pics, I filed them away for the percolation process to begin. Our new handmade earrings join the Deco Eye Necklace combining old and new - metalsmithed Sterling Silver with the photo-etched brass and the jaunty drop created by the 1920s vintage verdant green glass. Art Deco was influenced by discovery King Tut's tomb, the Mayan architecture of El Mirador, Native American designs, Bauhaus and so many more. Our newest creation draws inspiration from the vintage past. Walking through Duke Chapel, I was transported back to my very first Art History class - Medieval Art with its dazzling array of ornament, colors, and ethereal light. Our new earrings includes a detail from Duke chapel's ceiling, an eight pointed star found in many many spiritual tradition.
