Let me be clear about something.
Not all liver transplants stem from alcoholism.
And not all people who have received a liver transplant have even had a drop of alcohol.
The need for a liver transplant can come from many things — including autoimmune diseases, genetic conditions, liver cancer, viral hepatitis, medication toxicity, fatty liver disease, and other forms of liver failure.
In my case, my transplant was the result of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).
Alcohol was never part of my story.
But I also know people whose stories are different.
And trust me — the ones I know are deeply committed to honoring the gift they received.
Because when someone gives you a second chance at life, protecting that gift matters.
So on a holiday that often centers around drinking ☘️
I’m always curious about the different perspectives people in the liver transplant community carry.
If liver transplant has touched your life — before or after surgery — I’d love to hear your experience.

If this helped you understand liver transplant a little better, someone else in your life might need to see it too.
