April is Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month, and we're raising awareness about an important connection many people don't know about. Parkinson's disease and dementia are closely linked.

According to the Parkinson's Foundation, people with Parkinson's disease may develop cognitive changes that can progress to dementia. This is called Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD), and it's a type of Lewy body dementia.

If you or a loved one is living with Parkinson's, know that you're not alone. Support, resources, and understanding are available.

As Brain Awareness Week comes to a close, we're reminded of something powerful. Knowledge is one of the greatest tools we have in the fight against dementia. 🧠

More than 210,500 people in North Carolina are affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's, and these numbers have exceeded 2025 projections. This is why we focus all our efforts locally, offering compassionate support, insight, and assistance to those living with or caring for individuals at all stages and types of dementia.

But brain health doesn't stop at the end of the week. Every day is an opportunity to learn, support, and show up for those on this journey.

Together, we're building stronger, more informed communities across North Carolina.

It's Brain Awareness Week! 🧠 This week, we're celebrating the incredible power of the brain and shining a light on the importance of brain health for all of us, especially those living with or caring for someone with dementia.

Brain health affects everything, including how we manage stress. While most research finds that daily stress does not increase your dementia risk, it does affect your body in a lot of other ways.

One way to help manage stress is to establish routines. Having some control over situations (real or perceived) helps. Stick to a routine, and when stress interferes, focus on it. Predictability can help fight stress.
